Assess risk, protect data

DPIA editorial staff

The DPIA (Data Protection Impact Assessment) is a fundamental tool provided for by art. 35 of the GDPR for processing that may involve a high risk to the rights and freedoms of natural persons.
It is mandatory in many cases typical of the Public Administration, such as:

  • large-scale video surveillance systems
  • processing of health or biometric data
  • systematic monitoring of employees or citizens
  • use of new technologies with impacts on personal data

We support you in filling out the DPIA with a structured and guided approach. We analyse the context, assess the risks, propose corrective measures and prepare the final document ready for any checks by the Guarantor or for reporting on the Digital PA portals.

A document that is not formal, but operational, designed to really protect people and protect the institution.

frequently asked questions

When is a DPIA mandatory for a public body?

The DPIA, required by Article 35 of the GDPR, applies to processing that may result in a high risk to people’s rights and is mandatory in many typical public-sector cases: large-scale video surveillance, health or biometric data, systematic monitoring of employees or citizens, and the use of new technologies. Jinni helps the body complete it, assesses the risks, proposes corrective measures and prepares a document ready for checks by the Italian Data Protection Authority or reporting on the PA Digitale portals.

How does GDPR compliance work for a public body with Jinni?

Jinni starts with an initial audit of the body’s data processing, identifies weak points and proposes an operational plan for full GDPR compliance. It then prepares or reviews the mandatory documents, such as the record of processing, privacy notices, appointments, contracts and, where needed, the DPIA, and keeps supporting the body afterwards, updating documentation as regulations change. The body can ask Jinni for a free analysis of its compliance level.

Does Jinni run privacy courses for public administration staff?

Yes, Jinni offers tailored training programs for administrative staff, privacy officers and managers of public bodies. The courses are practical and up to date, and participants receive certificates that help demonstrate compliance in the event of inspections.
